At La Jolla Group, eCommerce is a shared-services division, consolidating strategic direction, operations, digital marketing, development, buying and merchandising, planning, customer service, and photo studio into a single department to help all brand groups within the organization scale quickly and effectively, offering enterprise-level solutions to complex digital challenges. We are looking for a UX/UI Designer who can spearhead our mission to build beautiful digital experiences that drive conversion, shape culture and make lasting emotional connections between consumers and our brands. Your design priority is to strike the perfect balance between innovation and timeless design. Your focus is elegance and simplicity, bringing clarity to complex concepts. You are passionate about the interconnection of form and function, and are a visionary who never loses site of the small details. You are a storyteller with an intimate understanding of how design forms connections with consumers, and a strategist who leverages data to create frictionless consumer journeys. You have a passion for technology and innovation and are excited to understand, craft, prototype, measure and optimize best-in-class digital products and experiences.

A portfolio showing proven experience designing complex digital user experiences is required – no other applicants will be considered.


Major Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Create e-commerce designs with a mobile-first approach

• Create working prototypes to define interactions and animations

• Advocate for uncompromising balance between form and functionality when designing human-centered digital experiences.

• Collaborate with developer to ensure best-practice UX principles are maintained throughout the development process

• Collaborate with brand-group stakeholders and eCommerce team to gather and interpret business requirements and translate them into functional requirements

• Document intended functionality, behaviors and interactions in collaboration with the eCommerce and brand teams to produce a technical specification

• Enhance the eCommerce experience of all La Jolla Group brand sites – focusing on mobile, responsive design and performance

• Work closely with eCommerce leadership, project owners and brand groups to deliver design work on time and within budget

• Conduct user-testing and generate meaningful and intuitive insights that will drive the user experience. Define interaction models, user test scripts / task flows and user interface specifications

• Design journey maps, navigation design, sitemaps, information architecture, detailed wireframes and more to support the end-to-end user experience

• Partners closely with band-group creative teams to refine creative consistency, but also be comfortable working within existing design systems to generate high-level design layouts as necessary

• Prepare and present approaches and recommendations in a compelling and impactful way to eCommerce team and brand groups

• Be able to work collaboratively with the eCommerce team, the brand groups, and cross-functional partners across the organization, but also operate autonomously and provide value throughout the entire project cycle

• Present your work to brand groups, explaining user journeys to multiple stakeholders

• Perform design reviews on your projects to ensure the quality of build matches what you and the brand group ideated


• You have 3+ years of experience in eCommerce user experience, interaction design and user interaction strategy, including projects for large and small brands, with an emphasis on digital products and experiences

• Your focus on user experience can be applied throughout the product development process – from discovery to design, development and launch

• Your understanding of the design, technical and business implications associated with user-centered strategic recommendations allows you to contribute meaningfully to our work

• You can design and define documentation for digital experiences and products, such as functional requirements, experience maps, wireframes, personas, user flows, and other UX artifacts

• You have deep experience with user testing methods and can conduct research and determine informed insights to drive the refinement of digital products and experiences

• You have proven success partnering with and presenting to cross-functional partners, clients, and project owners, and managing their requests and implementing feedback

• You are excited to work with different brands within the apparel vertical, and across different types of digital and innovation projects

• You have a keen interest in e-commerce, especially in the fashion vertical

• You look forward to solving challenging problems

• You are organized and have excellent attention to detail

• You are passionate about all things tech, digital and design


• Although this is not a development role, knowledge of LIQUID (Shopify's templating language) is a bonus

• Relevant experience in a digital agency setting is a plus
