60 Years in 60 Poems

60 Years in 60 Poems is an HTML5 web app that brings together poems, archive content and generative design. It was commissioned for the BBC/Arts Council platform The Space as part of the campaign for Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy's 'Jubilee Lines' anthology. Built by award-winning content design agency Somethin’ Else, the site features experimental navigation and stunning visualisations of 60 poem readings by generative data designer Stefanie Posavec. Each reflects a poem's unique characteristics – its length, decibel level and frequency – as well as its themes. This is combined with archive footage and images that add rich context to 20 of the poems, delivered through a navigation style that translates a feeling of 'sifting through' – whether through a stack of archive artefacts, or through individual poem recordings.
