Full Stack Web Developer (Office Based)

As we continue to grow our Marketing Team, we are seeking a dynamic Web Developer to play a crucial role in our website development on our DTC (Shopify hosted) platform.

Job Overview

We are looking for a proactive Web Developer to join our Marketing Team and assist in enhancing our online presence. In this role, you will collaborate with senior developers, contributing to the development and maintenance of both the backend and front-end aspects of our Shopify-hosted e-commerce website. Your responsibilities will extend beyond general website improvements, encompassing the design and implementation of web functionalities to support various marketing initiatives, including social media, email, and print.

**This is primarily an office-based role, working out of our Head Office in Edenbridge, Kent. The ability to commute to this place of work is important as we are such a tight-knit team. However, hybrid remote working may be considered for the right candidate.**

To succeed in this role, you should possess excellent website design skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to thrive in a technically demanding environment. You will actively participate in brainstorming sessions for innovative tech applications, ensuring that Jaques of London brand identity remains at the forefront of digital advancements.

Job Responsibilities:

·        Collaborate with the Head of Marketing to design and implement website features on the Shopify platform.

·        Contribute to the testing and maintenance of both backend and front-end applications, ensuring optimal performance and user experience.

·        Actively participate in brainstorming sessions for new tech applications, including digital storage and mobile technology.

·        Work closely with developers to integrate new web features seamlessly into the Shopify platform.

·        Utilise user feedback to identify and rectify issues, continuously improving the website's functionality.

·        Management of Shopify Liquid in order to customise and manipulate the Shopify theme. Understanding how to work with Liquid variables, filters, and tags is crucial for effective theme development.

·        Integrating external systems, automating processes, and accessing data within the Shopify platform. This includes knowledge of both REST and GraphQL APIs.

·        Creating custom themes, modifying existing themes, and ensuring that the design and functionality align with business requirements.

·        Optimising the performance of a Shopify store is essential for a positive user experience and SEO rankings. Skills in minimising page load times, optimising images, and improving overall site speed are valuable.

·        Curating responsive designs that provide an optimal user experience across different screen sizes and devices.

·        Management of version control systems, particularly Git, is essential for collaborative development. It helps track changes, manage code branches, and facilitate collaboration among developers.

Role Requirements:

·        Portfolio showcasing front end web development projects and practical experience

·        Confidence in your ability to code without the use of AI (chat gpt or similar) and/or reliance on copilot tools. We appreciate there will be a learning curve with any role but a core fundamental understanding of coding languages across the board is paramount.

·        High proficiency at coding languages such as HTML, JSON, CSS and JavaScript.

·        A deep understanding of Shopify theme development (Liquid) is critical.

·        Working knowledge of React is desirable but not essential.

·        Shopify App Development: Knowledge of building custom Shopify apps can be valuable. This includes understanding the Shopify API, creating private or public apps, and integrating third-party services to extend the functionality of the store.

·        Solid understanding of web design and development principles, with a focus on Shopify.

·        Proficiency in using the Shopify CLI to streamline development processes, allowing for efficient theme development, app creation, and deployment.

·        In-depth knowledge of software prototyping and UX design tools.

·        Awareness of web security best practices is crucial to ensure the safety and integrity of customer data on the Shopify platform.

·        Experience overseeing the Shopify Plus advanced features and capabilities would be beneficial.

·        Critical-thinking skills to solve complex technical challenges.

·        Goal-oriented and deadline-driven, ensuring timely project delivery.

Contract: Permanent (For the right candidate, we are willing to consider full time or part time).
