The Hong Kong Heritage Project

“The Hong Kong Heritage Project (HKHP) is a non-profit organisation established in 2007 to preserve history and promote heritage awareness in Hong Kong. When we set out to plan our website revamp in 2013, our objectives were to allow maximum ease for our users to access our information, while reinforcing our mission and vision. The final product is a far cry from its previous incarnation, which was launched with our Project and was laden with fancy animations and graphic presentations. Instead, it is an uncomplicated and elegant showcase which does not distract from the content - our valuable archival collections. It is visually very much in line with our revitalized corporate identity, which in turn reflects the up-to-date positioning of HKHP - we are not only about nostalgia but are vibrant and forward thinking as well. The content placement ensures a balance between our dual roles: a resource centre as well as an educational organization. Our archival collections, which primarily comprises photographs, oral histories and digitized documents, are well represented by our online samplers by media category. The information architecture is designed such that the individual pieces in these categories can be reached by only a few clicks.”
