Ghiti

Ghiti is a site full of cartoons, videos, games, cut-out drawings and much more, designed so that children between 3 and 10 years old can play and have fun in a quality Friulian-Italian bilingual context. Developing and strengthening the knowledge of multiple languages from an early age is "child's play", which gives great cognitive, social and cultural benefits throughout life.

Notwithstanding its cosy illustrations, Ghiti has a lot of attention on accessibility and good practices:

  • mobile first: the site is designed to be viewed mainly in mobile devices and optimized in terms of speed and performance
  • few simple and immediate commands to access all contents. "Discover mode" to switch among languages.
  • Each content corresponds to a brief in-depth analysi that allows the parent to verify the contents in advance
  • Color blindness accessibility : colors and contrasts are designed according to precise contrast scales
  • Dyslexic-friendly fonts : a special selector allows you to view the texts in a highly readable font
  • Accessibility for left-handed kids : the menu key can be moved by simple dragging and makes navigation optimal for all children

Ghiti is not a "net nanny" that encourages passive use: every 30 minutes the site stops viewing the contents, safeguarding the child's health from the risks of excessive viewing time.

What we would like to do

Ghiti aims to be not a friulian-exclusive project: we would like to extend its philosophy and funny characters to all minoritarian languages and cultures, thus creating a stronger, more durable, inclusive project. Our aim is not only to offer it to other cultures, but to take mutual advantage from their peculiarities, adapting and growing its contents in a successful cross-pollination.
