Senior UI Designer

Date Categories Country Type Location
September 17 2026 Design United States FULL-TIME REMOTE

Overview

We're hiring a Senior UI Designer to own how the digital experiences we build look and feel.

You'll lead UI across websites, eCommerce platforms, and digital products, from first concept through launch. You'll build the design systems, component libraries, and tokens that let a family of brands ship on one foundation, and that a client's own team can extend long after launch. We're growing, and so is the work.

You'll turn brand, UX flows, and content into high-fidelity, build-ready design, desktop and mobile. You'll partner with UX, strategy, development, and marketing, and carry your design intent through build, QA, and launch.

Our Experience team sits at the heart of every build, and we're looking for a senior designer who can lead UI across projects, raise our standards, and help our design systems grow up alongside the work.

We've been building our own AI tools since 2024, and we want a designer who's glad to bring AI into the work, from early exploration through handoff.

This is a senior, client-facing role. Local or remote, with a soft spot for folks in New England or the wider Northeast so we can get in a room now and then. You'll report to our VP of Experience.

About Anchour

Anchour is a creative agency of 40+ people focused on building unforgettable brands and digital experiences that help businesses punch above their weight.

Headquartered in Maine, we partner with SMBs and growing brands across industries like consumer goods, nutrition, fitness, financial services, hospitality, and retail. Our work spans brand strategy, identity design, website design and development, content strategy, and full-service marketing.

We call ourselves Creative Pragmatists. Great work happens when smart people are trusted to do it, and we've built a place where talented people have real ownership, real influence over direction, and the room to do the best work of their careers.

What You’ll Do

  1. Own UI from concept to launch. Lead interface design across projects with limited oversight. Turn brand, UX flows, and content into high-fidelity, build-ready design, desktop and mobile, with WCAG 2.2 AA in from the first artboard. Whether the brand system is ours or supplied by another team, you make it work in product.
  2. Build the design systems behind the work. Component libraries, interaction patterns, and responsive behavior across breakpoints. Tiered systems: global components reused everywhere, domain-specific ones for commerce and healthcare, controlled specialized pieces for the edge cases. Every state, variant, and redline accounted for.
  3. Define the design systems that hold it together. Typography, color, spacing, and motion as documented design systems, so a client's internal team can extend the system long after launch and not break it.
  4. Prototype to earn the yes. Build high-fidelity prototypes that pressure-test the key flows and get stakeholders to sign off before development starts.
  5. Hand off so engineers build it right. Organized, documented Figma files and implementation-ready spec packages, including for partners building in AEM or Shopify. Partner with developers through build and QA so the finished site matches what you designed.
  6. Lead the work. Serve as the primary UI lead on your projects. Make confident calls grounded in user needs, business goals, accessibility, and what's buildable. Scope your design to the budget and the timeline, and catch risks before they turn into rework.
  7. Raise our standards. Contribute to our design systems, documentation, and reviews. Share what you know with the Experience and Creative teams, and help shape how we design and deliver.
  8. Put AI to work. Use our AI tools across your workflow, from early exploration to documentation to QA, and help the team build fluency over time.

What We’d Like To See

  1. 5+ years of UI, product, or digital design, with a heavy emphasis on website design. A strong portfolio of high-quality website interface systems and shipped work is key – show us you can design a website. Agency experience strongly preferred.
  2. Craft fundamentals. Typography, color, layout, hierarchy, and motion. You know how to make a website's interface feel inevitable.
  3. Systems thinking. You've built website design systems and component libraries that other people can pick up and extend. You design for the whole product.
  4. Accessibility in your bones. A strong grasp of usability and WCAG 2.2 AA, baked into how you work.
  5. Figma expertise. Fluent in Figma and collaborative design workflows. Comfortable working alongside developers through build and QA, with a solid understanding of front-end fundamentals. eCommerce (Shopify) experience is a plus, and so is designing for headless or enterprise CMS handoffs.
  6. Ownership. You scope to budget, juggle several projects at once, communicate early, and own the outcome.
  7. A low-ego, curious teammate. Collaborative, invested in making the work and the team better, and glad to bring AI into how you design.
  8. Northeast-based, ideally. We're a Maine company and we love getting our people in the same room, so New England or the wider Northeast is a big plus. And we want to hear from a real person, in your own words.

Work Style

  1. You own your projects. UI runs through you, and it's better for it.
  2. You communicate before you're asked. You get status, risks, and decisions to the team early.
  3. You partner across the room. UX, copy, dev, and marketing all come out stronger.
  4. You design for the build. You know how your choices land in development, and you plan for it.
  5. You sweat the details. Usability, beauty, accessibility, and polish aren't optional.
  6. You take the work seriously. Not yourself.

What You’ll Get

  1. Competitive Salary. We pay well for great work.
  2. Flexible Work. Hybrid out of Maine when you're nearby, remote when you're not, with time together in New England when it counts.
  3. Retirement. Savings plan with a 4% company match.
  4. Premium Insurance. Premium health, dental, vision, and life insurance with generous coverage for our US-based team members.
  5. Optional HSA. An optional health savings account to set aside money on a pre-tax basis for medical expenses.
  6. Home Office Setup. A laptop plus 50% reimbursement for home office equipment.
  7. Paid & Flexible Holidays. 12 paid holidays throughout the year, including three flexible holidays.
  8. Paid Time Off. Minimum three weeks of paid time off per year.
  9. Paid Leaves. Paid parental, medical, bereavement, and other types of leave.
  10. Flexible & Summer Fridays. Half-day Fridays throughout the summer, and a get-it-done-and-go mindset year-round.
  11. Lifelong Learners Fund. Cash for professional development like books, conferences, and courses, plus team bonding fun.
  12. Baby Bonding Bucks. A $500 bonus to cover diapers, meals, and other expenses for any employee welcoming a new child.
