Senior Developer

We are looking for a senior developer to make the technical calls across our work, write production code daily, and shape how the studio uses AI. React-first, comfortable owning AWS infrastructure and deployments, with e-commerce experience. Cape Town or remote within 2 hours of SAST. Full-time.

The role

You are a senior developer with real ownership of the work you ship.

This is a hands-on role. You write production code every day, you make the technical calls across our development work, and you work directly with the founder and senior team on stack and architecture decisions. There is no committee, no sign-off chain, no separation between deciding and building.

You will work alongside our other developers, share code reviews, and shape how the studio uses AI as a structural advantage rather than a shortcut.

What you will do

Write, review, and deploy production code. React-first, across the full stack. Make architecture and stack decisions across our development work. Manage AWS infrastructure and Cloudfront deployments. Integrate APIs and third-party services across e-commerce and content builds. Review freelancer code before it touches production. Collaborate with our other developers on shared projects. Join client conversations where technical clarity is needed. Build and use AI-augmented workflows that compress delivery and raise quality.

What you need to bring

Non-negotiable

React, production-level. This is our core language. AWS and Cloudfront, comfortable owning deployments and infrastructure. API integrations, design, consume, debug. This comes up constantly. DevOps and deployment, CI/CD, hosting, environments end to end. E-commerce fundamentals, Shopify is the priority. AI tooling, Claude, agents. A tool, not a crutch.

Preferred

Sanity CMS, we build with it, learnable if you have a headless CMS background. GSAP and Lenis, our builds are animation-heavy, this matters.

Who you are

You make decisions without needing to escalate everything. You are comfortable being wrong and learning fast. You use AI seriously in your own workflow right now, and you can speak specifically to how it has changed what you can produce. You have worked in an agency, studio, or consultancy environment. You know how to context-switch between projects and talk to clients who are not technical. You are not looking to stop coding. This role keeps you hands-on, permanently. You are hungry. You want the platform, the ownership, and the work more than you want the title.
