Interview: Frank Chimero on Co-founding Abstract, Typography in Mobile Experiences, and Accessibility.

We catch up with award-winning designer Frank Chimero on Co-founding the software company Abstract, how typography brings meaning to mobile experiences, his go-to tools, looking into CSS frameworks for temporary scaffolding prototyping, and working through design expectations vs accessibility and usability with clients.

One of the nice things about most traffic coming through mobile is that there is a very nice purity and reliance on typography which I really like because I trained as a print designer, typography was the first thing I loved about that, so developing type systems and relying on type to try to communicate hierarchy structure and nuance and meaning, where it might be very difficult to explain pictorially, I think is a big change in terms of what seems to work better in a mobile context.
