HTML5 is a language for structuring and presenting content for the World Wide Web, a core technology of the Internet. It is the fifth of HTML standard or Hypertext Markup Language and it is still under development.

HTML5 builds on HTML4, it improves and augments the language with support for the latest multimedia while keeping it easily readable by humans and consistently understood by computers and devices. The most noteworthy features of HTML5 are media playback and offline storage . It gives more flexibility for creating websites and video, audio and images are all easily written right into the code. Other new elements are designed to enrich the semantic content of documents. Some elements have been changed, redefined or standardised.

HTML5 is not one large entity, but rather made up of smaller parts that work together. It is currently only fully supported by a handful of browsers and each one of them may support different features of HTML5.
