Gary Paitre

Gary developed his expertise in digital media and advertising while working for some of the best Montreal’s agencies (Sid Lee, Mc Cann).

Born in the US, raised in France and adopted by Canada, this free creative mind has a lot of skills. Art director, Motion designer, Photographer, Film maker, this multi talented guy is an Art Director and Experience Designer.

  • What did you do before becoming a designer/developer?

    Student in technology and design.

  • Where do you turn for inspiration?

    I usually grab my day to day inspiration from several blogs (awwwards, behance, fubiz, etc…). But i also feed myself with a lot of movies, books, travels, music and expos.

  • Which are your favorite studios, designers or agencies?

    GMunk, Uzik, Raymond Depardon, BuzzMan just to name a few.

  • Who do you side with: Team Mac or Team PC?

    Mac to create, PC to test

  • Is your city a good place for designers?

    Montreal is a UNESCO city of design. There’s a lot of great agencies around here. A lot of creative people and it’s a great place to get inspired.

  • Which technologies are you excited about?

    WebGL 3D, CSS3, some great JS libraries

  • How many hours do you work each week?

    About 50 legal hours. But as everyone know, a creative works all the day long.

  • Do you listen to music while you work? Describe your playlist.

    For sure. No music, no work. The last songza playlist i played is the « wayfarer soul »

  • What is your favorite book?

    It’s hard to choose only one. There’s 3 very different books i really enjoyed. The lord of the rings, Disney War, The name of the Rose.

  • What is your favorite sport?

    Tennis

    Heard from a client at the agency :

    - I need a site that works on mobile too.

    - Ok, no problem. We call that responsive

    - No, we don’t want a chat engine
