The New York Times is looking for a talented, solutions-focused user experience architect to join the Product Architecture team of the NY Times web site as a Product Architect. At the Times, we're extremely passionate about finding new ways to deliver the best news experience for our users. The Product Architecture team is at the forefront of those efforts, designing innovative solutions to real market opportunities. Here, you'll be working with other Product Architects and Product Engineers in a collaborative environment to strategize, concept, develop and validate products and features driven by user behavior and motivation.

Our ideal candidate is a high-energy, strong team player who excels at translating abstract concepts into simple and cohesive user interfaces. We're looking for a driven, enthusiastic self-starter, who is as comfortable building out a clickable wireframe prototype as they are presenting their UX design concept models to a panel of stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand customer needs, values, motivations and behaviors and translate them into elegant, actionable solutions to meet those goals
  • Work closely with team members and cross-functional stakeholders to define product features and capabilities
  • Conduct and document content audits, content taxonomies, metadata schema, and sitemaps
  • Produce artifacts including storyboards, scenarios of use, wireframes, prototypes, and design specifications, to communicate concepts, designs, interfaces and user flows
  • Collaborate with research teams to conduct user requirements gathering and analysis, competitive research, conceptual modeling and usability testing, and translate them to actionable improvements and learnings
